In the universe, parallel realities cohexist. These realities started looking more or less the same, but as time went by, as humanity progressed, and as more choices started becoming available, they drifted, becoming entirely different.
In some of these realities, humans do not exist anymore, in others, Earth is drowning in chaos, and in some luckier ones, humanity has gone through a better path. But, no matter which reality is better, all beings must stay in the one they were born into, and never attempt travelling to a different one for any reason.
The result of these attempts are glitches. Humans that have tried to switch their reality to a different, better one, either for happiness, curiosity, or power. When it doesn't work, their bodies and minds get distorted, they lose their humanity, and they must get executed, as the damage is permanent and their violence escalates.
And when it works, you ask? It just... It just doesn't work.
To prevent humans from attempting travelling to other realities, and to get rid of the ones who become glitches in the process, every reality has their own Glitch Killers. These people, trained from a young age, mostly because they had been in contact for some reason with a glitch, hunt the glitches and execute them. Their priority is always the safety of humans, but also to keep not only glitches, but also realities, a secret.
They live and work in the shadows for a leader so secretive that not even a single one of them knows who they are, but who keeps all of them well fed and with a roof over their heads. These hunters, for the most part, have been at the job for most of their life and do not know another way of existing.
